M&L – The Boat House

M&L are great friends of mine (M being a particularly bad influence on me and L keeping us both in line!)

True to form, their day was larger than life and a whole lot of fun. The only problem was keeping M still enough to get a picture of him! I guess he just wouldn’t be him if he wasn’t racing out of shot and hugging somebody. Good on you guys and congrats from us, we had a great time and are looking forward to the anniversary party!

More to come

Oh by the way, sorry for my tardiness with blogging. I have a whole bunch of weddings to blog but am trying to get them out to the special couples before I do. Watch this space!

AIPP Silver award!

Well, I thought I would enter as you have to start somewhere. The last thing I expected was to walk away with a silver award from the AIPP!

It was scary enough being surrounded by some of the ACT’s and NSW’s leading photographers, never mind seeing my work up there being judged, and then winning a silver!

Getting a silver award really meant the world to me but it didn’t compare to the phone call I got when I got home. A client (J & J – you know who you are!) called to tell me that she and her mum had been in tears looking through the photos I had supplied and she was blown away and so happy!

Awards aside. There really is nothing more important to a photographer than to hear that. Thanks so much J. 8)

(Now all I have to do is get that testimonial out of you in writing!!) 8)

Top 75 in Australia!

I just had to mention that Pepper Tree has been ranked as 1 of the top 75 wedding photographers in Australia and in the top 10 for Canberra by ‘The Knot‘.

Given the many thousands of wedding photographers in Australia, and looking at some of the award winning photographers I am listed with, I feel pretty damn special!

J&L – Gold Creek

J is actually an old friend of mine so I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wedding.

J & L’s wedding was a very low key and intimate affair with just a few friends and family. For some couples this is a great way to go as it really does take a lot of the stress away! I felt very privileged to be part of the small group there.

R&S – kamberra winery

Much like myself, R&S were not really into the ‘everyone jump in the air’ type of wedding photography. Don’t get me wrong that sort of thing can be fun, but for me it’s more important to see people having fun naturally. That’s when you catch the real emotions and moments that will really matter in the years to come.

So happily for me we stuck to a mostly candid documentary style throughout the day.  I think it really suited R&S who were a very loving and dignified couple.

S&G – Gold Creek

S&G wanted a rustic look to their photography and with their ceremony out at the historic Gold Creek we didn’t have far to go.

Gold Creek has a whole bunch of little spots that are great for photography (as long as the light is right). We got lucky with a setting sun streaming through the trees. This part of Gold Creek is a little known hidden tree line that I have had my eye on for a while and has since found its way in to more than one wedding photo shoot!

A&M – South Coast

A new year and a new blog!

Also a whole bunch of awesome weddings to blog about. December was a busy time with 5 weddings in a row but I loved every minute of them. Stay tuned for more posts.

I would like to kick off the new year with A&M who were married on a beautiful summers day on the Australian South Coast. With many of the guests booked into the same venue as the ceremony, A&M made a whole weekend of their wedding, with the party running into the hot summer night.

Very easy going and a lovely couple. Thanks A&M I had a great time (I especially loved the dance routine at the end!).
